  1. Hi i'm using Trumpet Winsock V 1.0 Rev A and have it connected to my 
  2. Linux box using dial-up SLIP.  The problem I have is that it is too damn 
  3. slow, the link is 14k4 between me and my Linux box at work and the Linux 
  4. box is on the net at 16k8.  I have made trials with Netmanage's Chameleon 
  5. and it appears to work perfectly in the same situation which leads me to 
  6. believe that perhaps its an MTU setting problem.

  8. My Linux machine is setup for SLIP and has the MTU set to 1500.  My 
  9. Winsock program has the following settings.

  11. MTU - 1500    TCP RWIN - 3500        TCP MSS - 1280
  12. Demand Load Timeout 5 seconds
  13. The port is locked at 19200 and hardware handshaking is on.

  15. Is there some setup problem with my MTU settings or is Trumpet winsock 
  16. just fussy about what SLIP server it connects to.  BTW for you linux 
  17. boffins I am using DIP 3.3.7URI for my slip server.

  46. I have just picked up an SMB server for a Unix box I administer(from 
  47. anu.edu.au/pub/tridgell/smbserver-1.6.04.tar.gz), which will allow me to 
  48. connect from PC programs like Windows for Workgroups File manager, as an 
  49. alternative to NFS.

  51. However I discover to my horror that the only compatible transport is
  52. MicroSoft's own TCP/IP stack, which I cannot put up due to size and other 
  53. restrictions.

  55. I use Peter Tattum's winsock, so I was wondering if there is some way of 
  56. making use of it to provide the SMB transport.

  96. I just got the commercial version (Windows), and it is worth the upgrade. You 
  97. get a 50% discount if you are university-based. The manual explains 
  98. everything. The thing about multiple mailboxes is that you can have your 
  99. e-mail automatically sorted into various mailboxes, depending on who it's 
  100. from, the subject, etc.

  134. That's pretty much what I'm doing. I'm getting error code 10093 and 10035 from 
  135. WSAStartup(), and both of those codes should never be returned. 10093 is 
  136. listed in the WinSock specs as returned by "every function except 
  137. WSAStartup()", and in the WSAStartup() description, it says it only returns 3 
  138. errors (well, maybe more, but 10035 wasn't one of them).
